JOHN'S JOURNEY INTO CONSTRUCTION

John, in his early 20s, returned to part-time work after life-changing peripheral nerve and orthopaedic injuries but felt unfulfilled and uncertain about his future. With limited educational qualifications, he worried about his career prospects.

Working with our careers advisor Annabel, John explored his strengths and discovered his passion lay in construction. We matched him with Mark, a volunteer mentor with extensive construction experience and an understanding of how to build a career without formal qualifications.

Through our vocational training, John developed CV writing skills, gained interview confidence and accessed work experience opportunities. With Mark's industry insights and Stride Forward’s ongoing support, John now has a clear pathway into work in construction and has the tools to succeed.

LISA'S FINANCIAL JOURNEY

Lisa, a 54-year-old SENCO teacher, received compensation exceeding £2 million after suffering a traumatic above-knee amputation. With no investment experience and limited money awareness, she initially spent most of her settlement on a property and adaptations, a car, and supporting family and friends. After 10 years, with rising prosthetic costs and limited cash, she is now financially struggling.

Stride Forward can help change this situation through our financial literacy coaching and personal finance education. With mentorship and support, Lisa can build the confidence to work with a regulated financial adviser, create effective budgets and develop practical tools to manage daily spending and make better-informed financial decisions for her long-term wellbeing.

Providing those with life-changing injuries with early financial and literacy support can transform the compensation received into lasting security and independence.

Those without litigation settlements we can offer support in navigating benefit system, budgeting and financial planning.

To protect the identities of these vulnerable individuals, we have anonymised them.
